Criteria
- An Acceptance Letter from a recognized educational institution in Cyprus for the Applicant, detailing the program of study and its duration.
- Proof of sufficient resources to cover the cost of living, studying and repatriating of the Applicant.
Documentation & Information
Before Arrival in Cyprus: Need to secure an entry permit.
- Application Form.
- Identification Documents:Copy of Valid Passport.
- Original Medical examination certificate by Doctor abroad:Blood tests and chest X-ray.
- Original Clear Criminal Record Certificate.
- Financial Status: Certification by a banking institution of the country of origin of the Applicant that certifies that the applicant is financially able to cover the cost of living, studying and repatriating, accompanied a bank statement, or a certificate for granting a scholarship by the Organization granting it.
- Education Verification: Acceptance Letter by a higher education institution mentioning that the Applicant has been accepted to follow a specific program of studies and Academic certificates of the Applicant such as school leaving certificate, bachelor or other degree, master’s degree, certificate of knowledge of the English language etc.
- Bank Guarantee: either from the student or from the Higher Education Institution for repatriation expenses.
After the Arrival in Cyprus:
- Original Entry Permit.
- Identification Documents:Valid Passport.
- Residential Status: Title Deed or Rental Agreement.
- Financial Status: Certification by a bank institution in Cyprus that certifies that the Applicant has transferred a sufficient funds into a personal account of his/her, covering living, study and repatriation expenses for the duration of the intended stay.
- Original Medical examination certificate by Doctor in Cyprus:Blood tests and chest X-ray.
- Health Insurance.
- Biometrics Data (Photographs and Fingerprints) and Signature will be collected by the District Immigration Department.
* Supporting Documentation issued by competent authorities in countries, other than Cyprus, will need to be officially translated (if needed) and also usually duly certified, depending on which is the issuing country.
** The above consist a brief, not exhaustive, list of the main documentation requested by the Immigration Department for the obtaining of an Education permit. The Immigration Department might request further supplementary supporting documentation, which will correspondent to each Applicant’s specific personal circumstances.

1. Does the Applicant need to be physically present during the scheduled appointment with the District Immigration Department?
Yes. The Applicant need to be physically present.
2. Which Documentation needs to be Officially Translated?
Documentation which is in any other language other than Greek or English, needs to be officially translated.
3. Which translations are concerned as Official Translations by the Immigration Department?
Translations made from Sworn Translators in Cyprus or by a Consular or Government Authority of the issuing country. Translations made from Sworn Translators in Cyprus, are usually more preferable.
4. Which Documentation need to be Duly Certified?
Public Documents issued in other countries, other than Cyprus, such as marriage certificate or children’s birth certificate, need to be duly certified.
5. Which certifications are concerned as Duly Certifications by the Immigration Department?
Certification by a Cyprus Embassy or Consulate in the issuing country will suffice.
6. How long after his/her arrival in Cyprus shall the Applicant apply for Education Temporary Residence permit?
Within 7 days from his/her arrival.
7. How long does the examination of the application take?
The examination of the application usually takes place 3 months.
8. How long is Education permit valid?
It is usually valid for one (1) year and is renewable,after expiration, until the completion of his/her studies, upon the submission of a relevant application and provided any further requirements are met.
